This new Village, named Pueblos en la Comunidad, has been established in the Orlando, Florida area under the direction of Ana Velez. This represents a step forward for diversity in the Village Movement nationwide.
Ana said, regarding this new Village, “We are here and ready to serve the community by extending bonds of friendship, support, and service to older adults. We want to create a vibrant, healthy, and connected community for everybody’s wellbeing. I am extremely grateful to Helpful Village and Villages for All for having had the vision to make this possible.”
In addition to this exciting development, we have received an outpouring of feedback from Villages nationwide regarding diversity and inclusion. Villages all over are looking to create more inclusive environments within their communities. We applaud and appreciate all efforts.
Villages for All, a newly established non-profit, works with Helpful Village to establish Villages in historically underrepresented communities. These important efforts have already been shown to be effective in this step forward for Villages. We look forward to a bright future for Villages nationwide.
